Bear
Three Bears is a day nursery/Reception that provides the highest standard of childcare to children 2 - 6 years old. We are committed to education and stimulating young minds.

Our approach is learning based around fun and play within a structured environment. Our focus is to provide a facility where the child can progress as an individual and where the group as a whole can develop positive social interactions and be able to work as a team. All of our activities in the nursery are based around learning and acquiring the social skills necessary for children to mature and develop in a positive way. We encourage all of our children to be polite and respectful of others. The nursery and reception are very well equipped with both indoor and outdoor resources for our children to use and enjoy. Our duty is to provide a safe and secure environment for all children.

We have three possible enrolment options - mornings only from 08:00-12:30, Afternoons from 14:30-16:30 and Full Day from 08:00-16:30. Our groups are small and this allows us to better observe each child's development and provide them with the necessary support or challenges to ensure their continued progress. Children are accepted from 2 years old and we welcome those up to 6 years of age. In the afternoon groups 14.30 - 16.30 we have a variety of fun Montessori activities that will help engage your child in learning and understanding English as a second language. (Children from 3-6 years old are accepted.)

How can Three Bears fulfill your requirements?

Safe and secure surroundings. Three Bears moved into newly built premises in 2014 which offer greater security when entering the building, visitors must identify themselves through an intercom system and then be 'buzzed in' by the staff. All rooms are equipped with fire detection and alarm systems. Every room has an emergency door out onto the balcony where stairs lead us down to our 'safe area'.

Large indoor and outdoor play areas. The children have the possibility to play within their classroom and the large play room located near the entry. They are provided with a great many toys to entertain themselves and an indoor trampoline to bounce off any excess energy. The huge balcony allows us to play outdoor learning activities and enables the children to have fun with water, sand and gardening. Our garden provides a fort, climbing frame, slide, playhouse and outdoor trampoline. The children can race their bobby cars along the path of our garden area.

An experienced and qualified staff. Our staff are all tertiary educated and hold qualifications relevant for the education and care of young children. Leonie Krieger is a tertiary qualified and professionally trained primary school teacher, with over 16 years experience in education and childcare. “I am passionate about children and education; it is so important to recognize children’s specific development stages in order to educate and care for their needs and wants with compassion and understanding”.

Newly built, child friendly premises. Our new premises are light, airy and spacious which is important for the children's well being as they have more freedom of movement, greater amounts of natural light and enough space to play alone or in a group. All of our facilities are proportioned for the children to use independently promoting their confidence and self esteem.

A structured curriculum using play based activities to inspire learning. Our nursery and preschool education curriculum adopts the UK early years key stage guidelines and key stage one and two guidelines as a model to help track and assess each child’s progress and development through varied observational techniques . At Three Bears we use play as a platform to engage children's learning within the curriculum areas these areas also support language development, pre writing skills, pre reading skills and emergent reading skills. Problem solving is encouraged especially in the area of mathematics and language.

Opportunities to explore and discover the environment through the senses to enable children to understand the world around them. Through Heuristic play in the nursery, music, art and day trips we provide the opportunity for each child to discover the world around them, through their senses, enabling each child to build up an understanding of their environment and their place within it.

Opening hours from 07:00am-18:00pm.

Fewer closures throughout the year due to reduced holiday periods. Our extended opening hours and reduced holiday periods allow more flexibility for two income families, parents with changing schedules and parents who may need extended childcare hours from time to time.

Transport available with the required demand. A minibus service can be arranged, at an extra cost, for parents who have limited transport or limited time. The minibus service will only be provided when demand permits.

Healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. All snacks and meals are cooked on premises. They are made fresh each day and repeat over a monthly cycle. The meals are delicious and home made and nutritious..

Day trips and events to celebrate important times of the year. The Reception age children will make a day trip once per month as an end to their monthly curriculum theme. The nursery children are welcome to join as long as their parent attends and is responsible for them. Each year we celebrate a number of events such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween and our summer party. Parents are encouraged to support the celebration by attending the event and participating in the fun.

Regular communication between staff and parents. At Three Bears we believe that it is our responsibility to keep the parents informed of their child's progress and behaviour. We use a variety of observation techniques to provide the best assessment possible for each child. These observations are then verbalised to the parent. A CD of photo's of each child's achievements and experiences will be provided at the end of the enrolment year so the family has a pictorial account of their child's year at Three Bears.

We provide an enabling environment. Three Bears provides an environment where each child has the opportunity to develop their skills, physically, emotionally, linguistically, cognitively and socially. We promote a positive and caring environment within our school which helps encourage the children to take risks and become more independent.

A special needs support program. Three Bears supports those children who may need assistance with speech therapy, have aural or sight difficulties, learning or physical challenges.
